Moving averages are a simple and common type of smoothing used in time series analysis and time series forecasting.
This approach we used to make predictions for all countries' trends. This type of prediction is one of the most accurate ones. On the graph below is shown such predictions for active cases in Russia, US, Italy, Germany, China and South Korea. We divided by the number of people in each country to make the comparison more clear.
We also applied Moving Averages technique to make a comparison of new cases per day out of total cases. We looked at the similar trends and tried to apply those trends to the prediction of the country's future new cases of infected people.
